On August 8th, 1945, the atomic bomb was dropped on Nagasaki, and in that instance many precious lives were lost. In Kyushu, efforts concentrating on peace education have been implemented so that the tragedy of Nagasaki will not be repeated again.
At a museum in Nagasaki, visitors are taught about the terror of nuclear weapons and war by looking at pictures of victims affected by radiation, buildings destroyed by the atomic shock wave and glass bottles melted by the heat blast. Visitors will also be deeply moved by looking at the monuments symbolizing peace donated from around the world placed in the Peace Park. Expressions of gratitude and sentiments thinking of these important people are acutely transmitted making visitors to think again about the absurdity of war.
