Udo Jingu Shinto Shrine is known as the location for the Japanese myth, ‘Umisachihiko and Yamasachihiko’. The story is about 2 brothers, one is a fisherman and the other a hunter. The local people endearingly call the shrine ‘Udo-san’. The shrine is famous for its unique construction. The main building was built inside a cave on a coastal cliff.It is a popular tourist spot on the Nichinan Coast. On the1st of January, many new-year worshippers visit there to see the first sunrise over the ocean.
