Hashima Island, also known as “Battleship Island”, is an island that had undersea coal mines which helped in the modernization of Japan. Presently, cruises taking visitors around the island have been operating. The ruins of these buildings spreading out before one’s eyes tell the story of the rise and fall of the coal mining industry.
