By carefully observing mountains and rivers, “Parks”, which give consideration about ecosystems, human life and culture, are Geoparks where the “Living Planet” can be felt. Geoparks are spreading throughout the world - mainly in Europe and China - due to a global nature park system promoted by UNESCO. The Shimabara Peninsula has been recognized as Japan’s first Global Geopark.
