Kagoshima City Group Activities

Kagoshima prefecture

History/Culture Group Activity

The center of Kagoshima City is one of the optimum locations to have “group activities” where visitors can use the municipal buses and trams to see the many locations that dot the area which go back to the end of the Edo period and the beginning of the Meiji Restoration (19th Century). There are many main highlights in Kagoshima City. These include the Museum of Meiji Restoration, the Kagoshima Modern Art Museum, the Kagoshima Prefectural Museum of Culture Reimeikan, the bronze statue of Saigo Takamori (an influential samurai), Ishibashi Park and the Shoko Shusekan Museum. Also located in Kagoshima City is the “Tenmonkan”, the biggest business and shopping area in southern Kyushu. In addition to selling souvenirs, the Tenmonkan is the place to go to have “Shikuma”, a type of “kakigori”, a Japanese dessert made out of shaved ice with syrup.
