Sengan-en

Kagoshima prefecture

World Heritage History/Culture Group Activity

Sengan-en is a daimyo park built in 1658 and is popular among tourists from home and abroad where these visitors can enjoy the magnificent scenery of neighbouring Kinko Bay, which appears like a pond in the park, and Sakurajima Island, which can be seen in the background and appears like a Tsukiyama or an artificial hill. In addition to enjoying the beautiful scenery all year round, tourists can also enjoy the traditional Japanese ambiance of the park with the many historically and valuable important structures and items which remain here.
