The Museum of Meiji Restoration is the birthplace of Saigo Takamori and Okubo Toshimichi both of whom were active during the end of the Edo period and the beginning of the Meiji Restoration (19th Century), and is a town referred to as the “Birthplace of the Meiji Restoration”. This museum introduces the history of Kagoshima, which became the driving force of modern day Japan, as well as the exploits of Kagoshima’s forefathers by using plays and diverse high-tech displays using robots, dioramas and videos in a fun and an easy-to-follow format.
