Nagasaki prefecture

Nature Disaster Prevention

Mount Unzen Disaster Memorial Hall is the only volcano museum in the world. This museum offers visitors a look at the disaster of the eruption of Fugendake, Mount Unzen’s largest peak, and the road to reconstruction using suitable teaching materials. Visitors to the museum can learn about pyroclastic flows at the “Heisei Eruption Simulation” which presents these flows in a realistic three-dimensional CG presentation shown on a 14 diameter dome screen at the museum’s newest facility.
