The Omuta Coal Industry and Science Museum features many exhibits, including:
1. In the Shaft - A Look at Mining Technology: Experience the operation of a coal mine in a shaft 400 meters (about 1312 feet) beneath the Ariake Sea! This exhibit packs a punch, displaying real mining machinery such as a giant coal digging machine, an electric locomotive to convey coal, and much more!
2. Moving Image Hall: Learn about the history and major events of Japan’s largest coal mining town, Omuta, through footage of the city’s Government-Designated Modernization Assets. Three programs (15, 20, and 40 minutes long).
3. Let’s Experiment with Energy: Visitors can enjoy experimenting with a variety of energies!
