Oura Catholic Church is also known as the Church of the 26 Japanese Martyrs. This church was constructed by the French priest Bernard Petitjean on Nishizaka hill and was dedicated to 26 Catholic martyrs, and is famous as the oldest wooden Gothic church in Japan. Oura Catholic Church became famous worldwide as the church that discovered the ”hidden followers” who had survived religious persecution.

Access Information | 20 minutes from JR Nagasaki Station using the tram. Get on the tram bound for Shokakuji and transfer trams at Tsuki Machi Tram Stop for the tram bound for Ishibashi. Get off at Oura Tenshudo Shita Tram Stop. It is roughly a 5 minute walk. |
