This is due to a long history in Kyushu where many visitors from abroad have been welcomed, in addition to the experiences that occurred through these cultural exchanges. Visitors to Kyushu will feel this heart-warming friendship.
Kyushu has a population of roughly 13 million and is made up of seven different prefectures - Fukuoka, Saga, Nagasaki, Kumamoto, Oita, Miyazaki and Kagoshima, and accounts for 10 percent of the GDP of Japan. Kyushu has come to the attention of tourists from abroad as a wonderful tourist destination like Tokyo, Kyoto and Hokkaido, because this area is blessed with an abundance of diverse nature and Onen (hot springs), in addition to delicious local cuisines.
In March 2011, the Kyushu Shinkansen (Bullet Train) was completed and opened connecting Fukuoka in the north of Kyushu to Kagoshima City in the south. The opening of this Shinkansen line makes it possible to make this trip in a mere 1 hour and 17 minutes, making it more comfortable and convenient for travelers.
Kyushu, with its diverse features, has a great number of learning spots where personal experiences, ecology and the environment, Minpaku(a stay in a farming or a fishing village), peace, history and culture, industries and nature can be studied. Since Kyushu is a location suitable for educational travel, many educational travel programs from home and abroad have come to Kyushu.
