Saitobaru Kofungun
Miyazaki prefecture
History/Culture
Scattered about on a plateau measuring 2km east to west and 4km south to north are roughly 311 keyhole-shaped, round and flat-topped burial mounds. Large-scale excavations first began in the early days of the Taisho period (1912-1926) and discoveries of note-worthy archaeological importance were found. Presently, these burial mounds are preserved and managed as a special historical park.
