Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine

Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine was built in honor of Sugawara Michizane (the God of wisdom) and is often crowded with people, mainly praying to pass school entrance exams. The shrine is also the national headquarters for all Tenmangu shrines. On the shrine’s premises, there are a species of deciduous tree that is protected as a natural treasure, camphor trees, Japanese apricots, and irises. Visitors can enjoy the beautiful sceneries of the four seasons.
